ACLA Welcomes Laura Stevens Kent as Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & Policy

Washington, D.C.—  The American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) today announced that Laura Stevens Kent has joined the organization as Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & Policy. Stevens Kent brings two decades of experience in federal and state advocacy, organizational strategy, and health care policy to the role.

In this position, Stevens Kent will lead ACLA’s government affairs and policy initiatives, working to advance the association’s mission to strengthen access to innovative and high-quality clinical laboratory services that improve patient care nationwide.

“Laura is a highly respected and forward-looking leader whose deep expertise in health care policy and advocacy will be invaluable to ACLA and our members,” said ACLA President Susan Van Meter. “Her strategic insights will strengthen our efforts to advance policies that support the essential role of clinical laboratories in the health care system.”

Stevens Kent most recently served as Vice President of Federal Affairs at DeBrunner & Associates, where she led federal policy strategy and advocacy efforts on behalf of hospitals, health systems, and health innovators. Previously, she was Senior Vice President for Advocacy and External Affairs at The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), where she delivered significant legislative and regulatory wins to support safety net hospitals, advance behavioral health initiatives, and secure vital resources for the state’s health care system.

Earlier in her career, Stevens Kent served in senior leadership roles on Capitol Hill, including as Executive Director of the Congressional Tuesday Group Caucus and as a senior staffer to U.S. Representatives Charlie Dent and James Greenwood.

Stevens Kent earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of Vermont.
