ACLA Applauds Bi-Partisan Congressional Passage of Legislation to Permanently Reform the Medicare Physician Payment Methodology

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA) today commended Congress for spearheading reform of the Medicaid physician payment process and passing legislation that repeals the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), a payment methodology long considered to be problematic by both policymakers and the physician community.

“Congress has demonstrated its ability to work together to effect reform and the clinical lab industry commends the passage of the so-called “doc fix” bill that puts Medicare payments for physicians on a more sustainable course,” said Alan Mertz, President of the ACLA. “A new era of greater predictability for both Medicare beneficiaries and physicians is a positive step forward in the goal to provide patients with access to the highest quality of care.”
